Diane's Story

In honor of my mom who in a long term care facility, dementia and amputee. Her prosthesis was forced on to her knee, shattering it, despite my inservice on how to put it on. Nursing home denied the one aide who I continually found to do it incorrectly was the one who forced it on. State was called in by me to investigate and they were fined. Didn’t help my mom who couldn’t walk again and developed health issues from being bed bound. Sadly passed soon after. In her honor I have become a long term care ombudsman, did it in NY, PA, and now CT. There but for the grace of God go I, or any of us, tighter oversight badly needed.thank you Suzie singer Carter for being a powerful voice!
